Site Work Continues for Publix

Homes have been razed and a patch of woods cleared at the corner of Peace Haven and Lewisville-Clemmons Road as crews prepare a site for a new Publix grocery store.

Morgan Property Group bought about 14 acres of property for about $4 million in 2016 to build a 79,000-square foot shopping center that will be known as Peace Haven Village.

Publix, the anchor tenant, hopes to open by late 2017, a company spokesperson said last week. Pet Supermarket is expected to open a 7,000-square foot store next to Publix.

The site will eventually be ringed with trees and include a stoplight at Peace Haven Road and the entrance to the Village Club neighborhood.

Publix, a Florida-based supermarket chain, is expanding in the Triad market. It opened a store in Winston-Salem in 2016.
